Today, on the 18th of July, actor Ahmed Elawady announced that his wife, actress Yasmin AbdelAziz, is going through a serious health issue and is currently in the hospital, though he did not mention any details.
As you can imagine, several news and media outlets started announcing the reason why the actress is in the hospital, including quotes from Elawady.
This led to Ahmed Elawady following up on his original post and saying that he hasn’t made any announcements, any updates about Yasmin Abdelaziz’s health with be through him directly, not any media outlets.
What are the rumors so far?
Several news outlets claimed that she’s been in a coma for over 14 hours due to a medical error during a surgery to remove lymphoma, while others said that it’s “blood poisoning“ that happened due to bad blood during a transfusion.
Either way, both stories claim her case is serious and is mostly caused due to a medical error.
Celebrities film makers and fans showed their support for Yasmin Abdelaziz like you can imagine.
Of course, many celebrities, filmmakers, and fans alike showed their support for Yasmin Abdelaziz and Elawady, and prayers kept flooding social media hoping for her recovery.
One of the actors who showed support for Yasmin was actor Tamer Farag, who posted a video questioning why there have been many medical errors recently. His message was directed towards the president of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, and asking him to find a solution.
During his post, Tamer mentioned several artists who either are struggling or lost their lives due to medical errors. TV presenter Eman Elhossary is currently fighting for her life due to medical errors, while actress Fatma Koshary was going through the same, as well as her inability to pay for medical bills due to the errors by her doctors.
Tamer Farag raises an important important question, what is a medical error and who’s responsible for them?
While we’re still unsure why Yasmin is in the hospital, it’s also worth acknowledging that these celebrities aren’t the only ones suffering from medical errors, but it’s an issue all Egyptians face and we might want to talk about it.
It’s worth noting that Tamer’s call isn’t just exclusive to celebrities, but he’s only using them as an example.
Again, we’re unsure why Yasmin is currently in the hospital, and we respect her family’s wishes for the decision, but what’s important now, however, is to wish Yasmin the best and speedy recovery during those holy days.
