Before we begin the rant, I want to clarify that I don’t care for influencers, and I’m not familiar with who this person is or what content she provides – if any. I’m just highlighting this one incident, not her overall content. With that out of the way, let’s talk about the main problem at hand.
On the weekend of Halloween 2022, an influencer called Dalia Ragheb decided to dress like a zombie, failed with the execution of her costume, and ended up looking like she got beaten up in the worst street fight you can possibly think of.
Hey, we’ve all been there.
I’ve literally dressed like a zombie before and looked exactly like that. Everyone kept telling me, “are you supposed to be beaten up?”
No one said, “Are you supposed to be a victim of domestic violence?” noting this happened to me years and years ago before the internet taught people right from wrong.
But apparently, Dalia Ragheb and those around her thought it was funny to joke about her looking like a victim of domestic violence. Not any random violence, oh no, no, they were extremely specific.
Dalia, who you can notice by a quick glance on her Instagram that she is extremely privileged, got called out by some of her followers who said, “put yourself in the victim’s place.“
Her reply?
She will never be in their place, and they can leave.
Leave?
Let’s not forget the money emoji.
She later posted an “explanation” video of the situation, blaming the character limit of Tiktok’s comments and saying that she’s more comfortable with Instagram stories than Tiktok. So how is any of this related to the domestic violence joke? Your guess is as good as mine.
She also claimed that the screenshots were taken out of context, as if any context would make these comments okay.

In the video, she never owned up to anything she did and claimed the joke came from her friends who said she’s a victim of domestic abuse because she’s married.
She even laughed about it while saying it.
Girl really thinks it’s funny!
She also explains that her only fault was posting on Tiktok only 2 or 3 clips from what was originally posted on her stories because she thinks we need more content about domestic abuse jokes.
Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. I don’t feel like a full article explaining how most victims of domestic violence can’t leave their situation is the answer here because anyone with 2 brain cells can know this already.
I also don’t feel like a full rant on how privileged this person is the answer. She has to know, right?
The issue is these influencers don’t listen.
Look, we’ve all made dumb mistakes and said dumb shit on the internet. It happens.
What is not okay is not owning up.
This person cares more about her image than the feelings of those who follow her and put money into her pocket by watching her content. She didn’t think that probably many of her followers, given that she targets new mothers, probably go through domestic violence themselves, based on statistics.
She doesn’t care.
The other issue with most influencers and their “apologies” is that they do it just to shut critics up, but that’s not how life works!
You must listen, even if you don’t understand why you’re being criticized.
Some people got offended. Stop and ask yourself, why? Even if you don’t understand, why not just do the right thing by apologizing?
Better yet, hire a PR manager to deal with this bullshit because, quite frankly, I’m sick of these useless apologies and dumb content happening over and over again.
What do you think?
