In many ways, it has been the summer of Chappell Roan, and “HOT TO GO!” has raised its hand as the song of summer festivals.
The song saw a midsummer surge following Chappell’s live performances at Gov Ball and Lollapalooza, and became one of Spotify’s first-ever “wildcards” for the Songs of Summer 2024 midsummer update. The song saw its biggest spike of the summer on June 10 (globally), the day after her Gov Ball set in New York City.
Chappell Roan’s iconic Statue of Liberty became the cover of Spotify’s “I Love NYC” playlist following her show-stopping Gov Ball performance, and the playlist grew by nearly 350% less than a week later.* Following her record-breaking Lollapalooza performance, she was also featured on the cover of Spotify’s “Hot Pink” playlist, which grew by nearly 145% in the week following.**

“Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar:
This razor sharp track transcended the rap beef that brought it to life and became an anthem for the summer. It drove massive surges for Kendrick Lamar’s entire catalog on Spotify immediately following its release.

After Kendrick Lamar released the “Not Like Us” music video on July 4th, the song spent 28 consecutive days at #1 on Spotify’s US Chart.
“Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter:
When “Espresso” came out, it immediately felt like the song of the summer before the season even started – with a beach-themed music video to match.
The catchy chorus and idiosyncratic lyrics (“that’s that me espresso!”) held staying power throughout the length of the summer.
Since June, the song has spent 20 days at #1 on Spotify’s global charts – topping 25 regional charts in countries like Australia, Malaysia, Jordan and Singapore.
