The annual-ish Livestream event, Netflix Tudum, has just taken place, and now we have a hint of the upcoming releases to be announced at the event. The event took place in São Paulo, Brazil, and is the biggest forum for all Netflix production announcements. The exciting news is most of our favorite shows were mentioned, and we got a peek at what to expect!
Here are all the movies and series we know are coming so far from Netflix Tudum 2023:
Berlin
From the universe of La Casa De Papel, the fan-favorite Andrés de Fonollosa (Berlin), portrayed by Pedro Alonso, will have his show. From the trailer, we get a sneak peek at how we will see Berlin lead yet another exciting heist with a set of new characters. We follow Berlin, his diagnosis, and how he gets caught up in a complicated love affair that will only make his mission more difficult.
Najwa Nimri, who portrayed Alicia Sierra in season 2 of the original La Casa De Papel, is co-starring in the show. The show’s release is set for December 2023.
Squid Game Season 2
Netflix has confirmed on Twitter that a second season of the Korean action fiction show, Squid Game, will be released in November 2023. As well as so, the show’s beloved stars, Lee Jung-Jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo, are returning for the second season!
Squid Game first streamed in 2021 and was quickly a people’s favorite. Even those not into K-Drama confirmed it’s not your typical K-Drama show. A sense of mystery and thriller has you watching with wide-open eyes and a ton of plot twists unfolding as the events continue.
Stranger Things Season 5
Season 5 is set to premiere in 2025. Still, the exciting news is that the star of The Terminator, Linda Hamilton, is joining the cast of Stranger Things for its upcoming season and all characters that remained alive by the end of season 4. Netflix and the show’s writers keep information regarding the next season on the low. As far as we know, the first episode is called “The Crawl” and was written by the Duffer brothers. In addition, season 5 is said to be the last season of our beloved supernatural series.

One Piece
Here’s a throwback to the childhood of anime-lover 90s kids. Netflix is releasing a live adaption of the 1999 anime show One Piece. The original manga writer, Eiichiro Oda, has joined Netflix’s crew to work on the live-adaption series, giving us the relief we need that our childhood favorite will keep its essence. After fans are disappointed with Netflix’s adaptation of Death Note and Cowboy Bepop, we’re hoping this one will meet our expectations.
The Witcher Season 3
The first half of The Witcher’s season 3 will be available for streaming by June 29, 2023. The show’s stars, Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey, released a clip from the long-awaited episodes of the fantasy drama. The second volume will be released by July 27, 2023.
If you’re wondering what the new season’s plot will include, so are we. However, according to the official synopsis, “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geraly takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.”
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Netflix released a teaser of under a minute of the live-adaption series, and it is finally announced to be released in 2024, starring Gordon Cormier as the 12-year-old Aang. Joining him will be Kiawentiio as waterbender Katara, Ian Ousley as her brother, Sokka, and Dallas Liu as fire-bending royalty, Zuko. Since the show was announced in 2018, the creators have gone through some struggles and issues over creative differences. The bright side is that we now have a hint of the bewitching graphics in the show and the cool characters in costume.
Wednesday Season 2
Netflix announced that the second season of Wednesday is in the making. In an interview, Jenna Ortega, portraying Wednesday Addams, mentioned that the writers and crew are developing new storylines and plots. After the first half of the last season, we hope to keep seeing more of Tim Burton’s involvement in the production and our favorite stars, Hunter Doohan and Percy White.
Rebel Moon
Netflix announced the release of a new epic space opera directed by Zack Snyder. The events are announced to follow the story of when a young woman, who lives a quiet life in a peaceful colony, starts seeking help from warriors from other planets to fight oppressive armies terrorizing her colony. The cast includes the star of The Mummy and Star Trek Beyond, Sofia Boutella, the superhero-movie star Ray Fisher, and the legendary Anthony Hopkins.
Some more shows discussed at the event include Riverdale, 3 Body Problem, and Lupin. However, we didn’t know definitive details on their upcoming seasons. According to the announcements at the Tudum Festival, 2023 and 2024 are destined to witness a series of fascinating original Netflix releases for all stream production lovers.
