Kid Cosmic follows an imaginative and enthusiastic boy who lives with his free-spirited Grandpa in a sparsely populated desert town.

The Kid’s dreams of being a hero seem to come true when discovering 5 Cosmic Stones of Power in a wrecked spaceship.

He forms a local hero team to stop an onslaught of alien attacks from stealing back the stones.

Though the Kid and his team are the good guys, they’re terrible at it, and the Kid learns that his fantasy of being a hero is very different from the reality of what it means to become one.

Facts about Kid Cosmic:

• Craig McCracken first developed Kid Cosmic in 2009 as a comic strip about an odd boy who dreams of being a hero. It is a realistic take on the superhero genre. It explores a naive child’s fantasy if what a hero is supposed to be versus the reality of what it means to become one truly.
• Craig’s own childhood experiences inspire the kid, and the cast is loosely based on the people in his own life. His real-life daughter inspired Rosa’s fun playful and Craig’s relationship with his older sister as inspiration for Jo and Kid’s dynamic.
• The Characters in Kid Cosmic were developed to empathise how regular people of all ages, genders and backgrounds can be heroes. While the comedy and action are about them using their powers to fight off aliens invaders, the heart of the story is about them learning that real heroes help, not hurt and that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.
