A shocking incident in Madinaty, a city in New Cairo, Egypt, has sparked outrage and social media uproar. The incident involves the intentional killing of a pharmacist by running her over in a private car.

The shocking incident occurred on Sunday morning when a pharmacist named Basma Ali Hassan was fatally struck by a private car in Madinaty, New Cairo. Disturbing footage of the incident went viral, which we will not be sharing here, and cautioning everyone about its graphic content.
Reports indicate that the collision involved a family comprising a father, a mother – the deceased pharmacist –, and their children.
The family, who lived in Kuwait, was on vacation in Egypt. Basma’s husband, Hamdan Zaki, is a veterinarian working for a pharmaceutical company in Kuwait. They have three children: Yassin, 11 years old; Noor, 9 years old; and the youngest, Ahmed, 7 years old.
According to local Egyptian media, their eldest son accidentally hit a car with his scooter in front of the neighboring villa, causing a scratch. The family went to apologize, but the accused driver came out, leading to a verbal altercation. He got into his car and intentionally ran over the family, resulting in the death of the mother, Basma, and serious injuries to the children. Hamdan sustained minor injuries.

While the Egyptian Ministry of Interior denied rumors circulating on social media that the perpetrator was a police officer, news platforms such as “Sahih Masr” published contrasting details based on the victim’s husband’s testimony, Hamdan Zaki.
According to Zaki’s account, the incident followed a verbal altercation between the assailant, who is Zaki’s neighbor and a military doctor, and the victim’s family. Zaki vehemently refuted the media’s narrative, denying the officer’s accidental killing and the filing of any reports against him.
