Netflix is finally releasing The One, a ‘soulmate science fiction’ limited series created and written by Howard Overman, creator of the well-renowned British series Misfits.
Love — and lies — spiral when a DNA researcher helps discover a way to find the perfect partner and creates a bold new matchmaking service.
The eight episodes of the limited series were directed by Jeremy Lovering (Sherlock, Teachers), Catherine Morshead (Downton Abbey, Four Weddings and a Funeral) and (Top Boy, Endeavour).
The One is based on John Marrs’ novel, which offers a terrifying glimpse into potential relationships’ future. The story addresses the concept of “how far would you go to find your perfect match?”.
Through the series, you’ll see how romance has become a science, and all it takes is one DNA test, and this new software will connect you to “the one” based on genetics.
Everything changes when someone turns up dead and investigators turn their attention to the woman who started it all: Rebecca (Hannah Ware).
The One stars Hannah Ware (Rebecca), Stephen Campbell Moore (Damian), Olivia Chenery (Holly), Lois Chimimba (Hannah), Albano Jerónimo (Matheus), Eric Kofi-Abrefa (Mark), Dimitri Leonidas (James), Diarmaid Murtagh (Connor), Jana Pérez (Sophia), Wilf Scolding (Ethan) and Zoë Tapper (Kate).
