In a shocking twist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Egyptian wrestling star Mohamed Kisho finds himself embroiled in scandal, following reports of his arrest on sexual harassment charges.
According to European media, the incident occurred early Friday morning. French newspaper Le Parisien reported that Kisho, who was competing in Olympic wrestling, was apprehended by police after a woman accused him of inappropriate behavior on a Parisian street. Reports suggest Mohamed Kisho was intoxicated at the time.
The Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, immediately convened with the President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee to address the situation. An official statement from the ministry is expected soon, detailing the steps to be taken in response to the allegations.
French authorities, including the Paris prosecutor’s office, have confirmed Kisho’s arrest and stated that an investigation is ongoing. The alleged incident took place near the Seine River, on Quai d’Austerlitz in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. The woman involved filed a complaint, which prompted police action.
Kisho, born in March 1998, is a prominent figure in wrestling, having secured a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. However, his journey at Paris 2024 was cut short in the round of 16 by Azerbaijani wrestler Həsrət Cəfərov.
The British news outlet Daily Mail also covered the incident, reporting that Kisho was accused of harassment after allegedly touching a woman’s backside while leaving a café at around 4:30 a.m. The report confirmed that Kisho was heavily intoxicated at the time.
