Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Ashraf Hamed Ali to death by hanging and his daughter Habiba to life imprisonment for the murder of the daughter’s fiance Bassam Osama, in the case publicly known as “The Rehab Student’s murder.” The murder took place in 2018.

Others involved in the murder were sentenced to 10, 7, 4, and 5 years in prison.

A statement issued by the Public Prosecution Office stated that the Public Prosecution’s investigations revealed that the defendants – following a dispute between the first accused and the victim. The victim found out that the accused had forged a personal identification card to escape a prison sentence.

After the dispute, the man’s daughter lured her fiance into a rented apartment in the Rehab area, where they killed the victim, buried him in the apartment, and stole all his personal belongings.
